Specific adaptation for early maturity and height stability in Icelandic spring barley

چکیده
Abstract Cereal production in important growing regions is negatively influenced by climate change. This can be countered expanding cereal northwards Scandinavia and Iceland, where today, barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) primarily used as feed, it rarely reaches malting quality. study explores genetic factors underlying the ability of to mature fully low temperature long photoperiod. A panel 84 spring lines were grown controlled environments with different day lengths temperatures, partially mimicking target environment. The was screened for accumulated heat sum heading, maturity, height, all traits importance adaptation northern periphery. Subgroups stability requirements found, day‐length‐neutral identified. Height controlled, lower resulting taller plants. results coupled a genome‐wide association (GWAS). Despite small size, Mat‐a locus identified have strongest heading; Ppd‐H1 , Mat‐a, FT1 DHAR2 maturity; GA20ox1 height. Early maturing height successfully been developed this confirms their performance first time. It provides insight mechanisms behind early maturity that will increase our further adapt other cereals climate. facilitate breeding work toward combining such quality, enabling northward expansion grain production.

15 صفحه اولLinkage disequilibrium mapping of yield and yield stability in modern spring barley cultivars.
Associations between markers and complex quantitative traits were investigated in a collection of 146 modern two-row spring barley cultivars, representing the current commercial germ plasm in Europe. Using 236 AFLP markers, associations between markers were found for markers as far apart as 10 cM. Subsequently, for the 146 cultivars the complex traits mean yield, adaptability (Finlay-Wilkinson ...

this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...
EARLY FLOWERING3 Regulates Flowering in Spring Barley by Mediating Gibberellin Production and FLOWERING LOCUS T Expression.
EARLY FLOWERING3 (ELF3) is a circadian clock gene that contributes to photoperiod-dependent flowering in plants, with loss-of-function mutants in barley (Hordeum vulgare), legumes, and Arabidopsis thaliana flowering early under noninductive short-day (SD) photoperiods. The barley elf3 mutant displays increased expression of FLOWERING LOCUS T1 (FT1); however, it remains unclear whether this is t...
متن کاملDry matter and nitrogen accumulation and use in spring barley
During growth, kernel of cereals can be provided with carbohydrate and nitrogen (N) from the translocation of pre-anthesis accumulated reserves stored either in the vegetative plant parts or from current assimilation during kernel development. This study was conducted to assess the effects of nitrogen level and cultivars on dry matter and N accumulation and mobilization during pre-anthesis and ...
